"Memories Of A Great Friend"
Author, Poo

The Love of a brother is a most precious gift. At his time of loss and grief, Poo shares joy of the memories of his brother Tink.

Little Poo here, my brother Tinker is gone now. I will miss him so much. I knew he was really sick. He tried to play almost to the end, but I knew he was just getting weaker there in the last 5 or 6 days. Let's not remember the end, let us remember the good times. We had some real good times you know When I came here to live, Tink had been alone as the guard of the place, he really needed me. We may be small as far as a normal guard goes, but put two of us together and we can make about anyone run for dear life. Really, if you become our friend we can love you so much. Now take Dr.Mike, Dr.Julie, Dr.B, and Dr.Randy. They took good care of us.

Let me tell you a bit about those people. We loved Dr.Julie; she was our main first doctor. We knew she had heart for us. We met Dr.Randy, now he traveled a lot, so we only got to see him on maybe a week end. He did some operating on us when we were little. Seems Tink had a eye that the upper eye lid needed a little repair on. I had a couple toes that needed some work on. He fixed us up real good one week end. He moved up north. Seems like he sold part of his travel to Dr.Julies husband. We heard he is a cracker Jack of a good cow doc.

We then met up with Dr.B., now we were stuck with him for a while. See Dr.Julie and her husband moved away from here for a while, before Dr.Randy made the move. Dr.B. was the doc that told Bill about Tinker being the dog.. You know I heard all that. I never cared for him all that great after that. That was him I didn't care for. Oh we got along all right. He was a good doc.

Then all at once Dr.B. was gone, and we met Dr.Mike. Now he got Dr.Julie to come in and do the doctor work too.. So we are back with two good doctors again. Bill said one day, he knew if he called in a case of need, we would have someone there that was good to take care of us. We did have the bad luck of running into some real quacks of docs.. Guess that can happen. One bunch in Lincoln liked to killed both of us. Dr. Randy said. "They were real first rate should be put out of being called veterinarians." He was mad to think a vet would do what they did to us. His girl Friday really tore into them.

Enough of the doc stuff. Time to tell other things. Tink and I had a game we like to play. Now I am not to fast on the run bit, also I needed to rest a bit more then Tink. So I would park myself in a spot and here comes Tink,. I would jump and run at him as he went by. I would get back and wait for him to come again. Every time he would turn off and darn it I missed getting him. Well once in a while I got him and we would roll around acting like we was going to kill one another. It was fun.

One morning we got up and went out. It was snowing, this was when we were young and foolish. We thought it would be nice to take a walk. So we did the duck out of sight thing. Bills mother couldn't find us. Well when she went back in the house to get a coat, we high tailed north to the corner and then to the east. This was about 6 in the morning, Bill was working. It was dark and she had no idea which way we went. We went along just having a good time. We was like two kids you know, never thought about what could happen. It got light and here we are, have no idea where and just how to find our way back. It was snowing pretty hard, and even if we turned back our tracks was soon covered. After a bit we was just dumb founded as what to do. Tink said, "there is a house with a porch and a roof over it, I'm going to go get on it and try to get out of this white stuff, I'm starting to look like a white guy instead of a red guy." I stayed out on the side walk and in the yard, looking up and down the street. What for I really was in hopes I could figure out where we was at and also maybe a little Red Jeep would show up. Well after what seemed a long time, I heard a sound of a engine I knew. I ran back out onto the walk. Tink stayed on the porch. Yea here it comes, and it stopped. Oh there is Bill. He grabbed me up and got me back in that warm buggy, and ran and got Tink. Oh was we so happy. Both of us thinking we would get a little more then just a love pat. You know all we got was a little talking too. Bill got the snow off of us the best he could, and covered us up in warm towels. When we got home, he got our hair dryer out and we really got warmed up. We both got one of the bigger of hugs in our lives. We never pulled that bone head deal again.

Oh we would take a run down the street once in a while, but we knew Bill was trotting along with us too. As we grew older the hot runs slowed down. Maybe for a block, but that was about it. Seemed like I had a bit of a problem, and I told Tink I can't go that fast. So he kind of ran at my speed. We would stop and rest for a minute.

We learned we were a pair right off. We became what one could call brothers. We played together, we figured things out together, we worked things out together, we ate together, our beds were next to one another. We went everywhere together. We just bonded together. It got so that if one was sick for some reason the other would set by the one feeling a bit out of sorts. One have to stay at the doc place for a while, the other worried about it, and when the one got out of that place. Yep we talked about what they do to a person there. Should not happen to a cat. But what ever was done the one, he was on the mend. So maybe it wasn't so bad after all.

You all know about our travels,. I don't think I can add to that much. We really never cared much as to where we was going, just as long as we went. Bill all most always took us any where he was going. He said, and we heard it. "If we wasn't welcomed he would do one of two things. Not stop, or we would only be there for a few minutes." If we stayed in the buggy, the heater, or air was on, depends on the weather you know. He always had food and water for us on the trips.

Yes I will miss my brother. I will be here for a while longer. I have no idea how long. Best I don't. I know some day I will go make the trip to the other side. I will meet my brother over there. We will be young again, no hurts, no pain. We will play together again like we did just a few short years ago. We will set and gaze into the eyes of the ones who loved us on earth. We will see the man called Jesus. We know he will welcome us home. I know Tinker is there now. He was a good boy here. Why wouldn't he be there? So Long Tinker. Wait for me, I'm coming, see you in a little bit. Remember I am a bit slower then you are.
