All of us, at one time or another, have pondered the relevance of our existence, the purpose of our being, the meaning of our lives on one level or another. We wonder if, in the end, we will have "mattered" in the grand scheme of things...even in some small way. Jim Spence's warm and endearing character, Herman, is no different. He is an ordinary man, living an ordinary life, and yet has an extraordinary effect on the lives of all he encounters. His kind and gentle ways, his thoughtful and sincere acts, and his humble, unassuming manner change the world he lives in for the better. Herman is an example for all of us; he shows us that who we are, and how we live our lives DOES matter, and when we touch someone with kindness, we live forever in their heart. Herman will live forever in mine. What a sweet, sweet, man!

I fell in Love with Herman when I read the first chapter. The Love affair continued as Jim Spence shared each chapter of this heartwarming novel. I was fortunate enough to have the honor of taking "Herman" and his girl Millie into the class room at a "boy’s ranch". These are children who have been taken or abandoned by their families. Herman and Millie had an impact on the boys that I am certain they will carry with them throughout life. With all of my being, I believe that given the opportunity, Herman and Millie will have an impact on modern society. Teri Wilber, curator heartswithsoul.com

Wow!!! Once I started I couldn't stop reading. Mr. Spence has captured a little bit of each of us in his character Herman. I'm going to let my children read this, because I think it has life lessons for everyone. Where can I buy the book? Belle L.

I would definitly buy Herman. He makes you stop and think about all the opportunities and interesting things we see, but do not really see. His Father's Son was very moving as I also lost my father, he was 57. I really would love to see more of Herman, he lives in all of us.

Visually impactful the cover depicting the sprawling crowded city juxtaposed in the blue free light the of the skies expanse makes me want to initially investigate the inhabitants therein. The font elegant classic whispy as the clouds echoed behind. The Herman Chronicles leads me to believe I am about to embark on a journey from the present life of Herman, a name that evokes mediocrity and ordinary easily a denison lost in the greatness of the city depicted in the cover. Yet, I trust with my inherent suspension of disbelief that Hermans Kriptonite is none other than his own distrust of his inherent value. In looking within himself he reveals the greatness and terminal uniqueness within himself he hungers from everyone else. Yet, I trust upon self discovery he remains inherently good, a superhero hidden in the everyday world motivated to help others unlock their diamonds in the rough and finally feel the sense of worth they have been missing.
I'd want to buy it because it appears to have several storylines, a strong subtext and poignant catharsis into ones self. It appears to me as a gift of value in having read this book. Like the SECRET LIFE OF BEE'S by Sue Monk Kidd, I was left with a literary transformation that enriched my own life for having read each page and persevere the risk of reward.
I hope this helps and congradulations on such a well thought out story and beautiful book cover.
